The Interfaith
Hospitality Network was incorporated in Colorado Springs in 1996 as
the grassroots initiative of local community activists alarmed by
the rise of homelessness in the Pikes Peak region. One of over 124
affiliated agencies in 38 states responding to the nation's homelessness crisis,
IHN is a member of Family Promise established in New Jersey in 1986. IHN is governed by a local board of
directors under an independent 501(c)(3) designation, and relies on
the support of the local community to offer its innovative programs
and services. IHN's original network of seven participating churches
has grown to 33, which includes 23 hosting churches and 10 support
faith based congregations. Support congregations provide meals and other
assistance to hosting congregations. Since hosting its first family
twelve years ago, IHN and
its partnering congregations have housed more than 1000 parents and
children from more than 350 families.
