The Family Day Center (FDC) a collaboration between Family Promise of Colorado Springs and Catholic Charities of Central Colorado, provides services for families experiencing poverty, and who are homeless, or on the verge of homelessness. The FDC offers families a safe haven with opportunities to participate in adult and child enrichment activities throughout the day, receive services, and referrals to other agencies as needed.
The FDC is the only day center in the Colorado Springs area exclusively addressing the needs of families in our community experiencing poverty and homlessness. The ultimate vision is to equip families to build resiliency and access life changing support.
Approximately 1,000+ families in Colorado Springs living with no shelter or no housing of their own (Colorado public school homeless student count 2012-13)
Families need easier “one stop” access to service information and referrals
Service providers need more coordinated assessment and referral process
Many families need safe shelter for children during day time hours (nothing currently exists in COS)
